Yes, it is true! The @youngprogrammers.net era has finally started!
I've got a few things to get rid of:
(As some of you already know) There is a YPN mailing list, which is setup on my server. And, additionally, for OP discussions I've created a YPN-dev list too. I've made the YPN-dev list basically so we can trash this private forum in partyfish, because it looks rather rejecting if there is something only accessible for the admins in a public place. So, please sign up to both lists Instructions follow:
first goto:
http://kage-chan.homelinux.net/mailman/listinfo
There you will find both, the ypn and the ypn-dev list. Subscribe to both please. For the ypn list you will be subscribed without me "accepting" it.
On the other hand, for the ypn-dev list I will have to approve your request for signup. This is simply to prevent unwanted people signing up on the admin list.
All mails are also archived, so you can see what happened, even when you don't have your pop3 account around. This, tho, is only valid for the ypn list. The ypn-dev list is not archived, for the same reason as above, to prevent unwanted people from looking at it. To view the YPN list archives, goto:
http://kage-chan.homelinux.net/pipermail/ypn/
So, this was the first thing Let's head for the next thing:
With gniibe's support, the youngprogrammers.net MX record has finally been pointed to my machine. In english this means, all mails for youngprogrammers.net are handled by my machine. Every OP will get a mail account @youngprogrammers.net within the next 24h. For now I will let the mail redirected to the account I can find in your profile, of I have in my address book. You can tell me anytime to use a different one, and for those who really insist on it:
I could (maybe even would) create a pop3 account for those who _really_ need it. The package includes a pop3, pop3-ssl, imap and imap-ssl account. Also, all mails are accessible without a pop3 client. You could use the webmail interface running on my https.
Anyways, this is just a option for those who _really_ (I mean it) need it.
I think this is all I got to say for now
Have a nice day.

sorry, forgot to add:
after you have signed up to the lists, it doesn't matter if you send it to
@kage-chan.homelinux.net
or
@youngprogrammers.net
since both are actually the exactly same machine (regarding mails that is )
Thank you for your attention

Wasn't much work now after I've got a complete mail system working, but still, good to have

Very good to have, indeed. I also like the idea of thrashing this forum. Several times I've been adressed in the chan because of it. It's just a bit too provoking, I think. Also, a mailing-list is much more comfortable, isn't it?

well, people being provoked by this forums would be .. strange.. however i can imagine it makes some people curious (:

yeah, that's what I meant, svara
Anyways, the mailing list is, as moxx already mentioned, also a lot more comfortable, since you don't have to crawl throught the login, the forum etc. just to get your msg. The mailing list msgs are delivered directly to your inbox (into a special "YPN-dev" folder in my case, filters rock! ), and your mail-checker applet notifies you immediately
That's what I thought when suggesting to trash the private forum.

i tried filtering it here, too... i get so many mailing lists (i should unsubscribe them, i never read them (:)... and thery all go into their seperate folder... but somehow ypn and ypn-dev didn't want to get filtered! i have no idea why... lollipops tho.

svara:
Evolution has a filter option, specially designed for mailing lists. Works great for me
And, I'm also subscribed to many lists. Not too much, but 6 lists isn't less either

i know that function kagez, thats what i use for all the other lists (:
it didnt want to work somehow for ypn and ypn-dev.
it would be nice if the mails to the list would always have the list in To: (and not CC or something) and always be adressed to /one/ of @kage-chan.homelinux.org ypn@youngprogrammers.net (for the ypn list that is).
i mean, people might want to filter by To-header, and it would make things a little less compicated for them (:

ok, then let's agree on "ypn(-dev)@youngprogrammers.net" for everything going to the lists from now on.
But, a information for you (which you might not know, sorry ):
The "reply-to" field is always "ypn(-dev)@youngprogrammers.net", so you could create a filter which filters by the "reply-to" field
That's how I did it in my evo.

ok, i'll try using reply-to then.

ok, now, with a new version of mailman, settings are a bit better
Regardless if the mail was sent to ypn@kage-chan.homelinux.net or ypn@youngprogrammers.net, if you press the "Reply" button in your mail client, it will go to "ypn@youngprogrammers.net". I hope that helps you guys a bit to keep things organized in your inbox
