Ok, heres an idea Ive had before, and have been slowly doing, but I figured this could be our next big community related project.
Everyone knows of the GameSpy Networks,
PlanetWarcraft
PlanetNeverwinter
PlanetMedalofHonor
PlanetWolfenstein
PlanetDungeonSiege
SportPlanet
RPGPlanet
FilePlanet
etc
The list goes on, this started with just one web site, about all consols and games, giving you the latest info, and a few downloads, then a brilliant game came along, and they dedicated an entire site to it, like an offical fan site. They called this a planet. The idea was so popular, each new awesome game thats come out has its own planet, and they are expanding their network all the time.
If you go through browser each of these planets you will see they run on the same engine, have the same written and interview style, the only change is really a cosmetic one ( And the facts its about a completly different game d-: Sif ).
So, why dont we start expanding our network, I am creating one electronics & electrical related, plus I am now working on Sasquatch.
I am going to stop working on sacah.tk and focus on Sasquatch, when its finished, use that as my backend, and just do a cosmetic change, and it will be a new planet/sister site as such for the Young * Network(*=unknown). So, anyone with other interests and skills apart from programming, and if you found that theres not a community already out there for younger ppl, can join the Network, and use Sasquatch as their backend.
The reason I started sacah.tk was because when I was younger and into electronics and electrical stuff, there was not a great deal of resources avaliable. And I feel a community like YPN is the best place to learn and grow, First I did research and found still no places catering for the younger generation. Hence I started sacah.tk.
This will be tha same for anyone wanting to start another Y*N, we shouldn't just start a network if theres already 1 or 2 out there, if you are interested in that area join them and help them build up, but if theres not, or its a dead communitiy, then we can start one.
This is an option I have not run past GTBOYPN(Gods to be of YPN) yet, so use of Sasquatch might not be an option.
This is just an idea, its very much a community orientated project, so lets see what you think.
This would of course only be possible after Sasquatch has been finished, etc. So just out of interest, who has some other skills they feel could be useful for a Y*N/sister site.
Check out http://www.gamespy.com/ for the *planet* network.

PS.
Its early in the morning, and im tired, sorry if this is not understandable.

Sounds nice. Don't have time to consider it in more detail right now, so here's just a short reply:
Using sasq will of course be an option. Don't forget, it's GPLed
Also, this would force us (sasq developers) to keep an eye on sasq's usability for non-programmers or inexperienced programmers...
Well, at least it's an idea to get the whole thing going, again. Right now the YPN looks a bit like it has fallen asleep, it you know what I mean...

and probably also for bug-freeness all those php-projects like phpbb, phpgroupware, phpnuke... have new bugs found all the time...

Speaking of phpBB, why don't you upgrade to the new version? It looks pretty good to me.

I did not think indepth much about the idea, just said it, let others developt it out, the idea was to get ppl from YPN to start others, most YPN that are active are programmers, but expanding even further noncodness would be good.

I just like have ideas and say them, not really thinking about them, thats why the post was so long, i just type.

Just keep thinking and typing, sacah
fsvara, dxprog: The new sasq will contain an own messageboard (written by sacah, afaik). And as it looks right now we're pretty bug free. But that will probably have to be prooved in the first weeks after the upload...

moxx: i know, i know... but i guess micrsosft thought win 98 was "pretty bugfree" after months of testing, too Well, time will tell
As for the Y*N idea, well, we keep changin the topics in #ypn to say something different.. Like Young Lamers Network on sepcial occasions, so i think we're already doing what you describe

Please don't compare us who work on sasq with Microsoft...

The biggest problem with Windows is the wide variety of computer hardware configs that it had to work on, theres no way you can test it on all of them, with web devel, that range is reduced quite dramaticly, so we should be right.
And Im not doin anything on sasq until Kagez gets back and tells me the login and stuff for gettin the sasq CVS.
If you know it, then that would help too

My email sacah@sacah.tk does not seem to work anymore, so sacah@sacah.faith.web.tj should get me, else leave a memo for me on OpenProjects username: sacah
