I just upgraded to win Xp, and so far i LOVE it, because of its sweet interface, the new colors, its enhanced speed, and especially its stability! i had it a week and it did not crash a single time yet! compared to the 3x a day of win 98 SE... What do u guys think? are you thinking of upgrading or have upgraded? share your opinion!

You guys know my opinion...I hated a beta version, but love the release to manufacture version. [addsig]

I'm happy that this release, I will NOT help enrich the m$-corp. by NOT getting XP

I rpped WinXP off a innocent user in Kazaa, and the only thing that was "good" was the new UI. The rest absolutely lollipopes .. sorry

My reasons for not "upgrading" to it:
1. It's far more unstable than Linux.
2. Looks like it doesn't like OpenGL very much
3. I can have such a UI in GNOME too (yes, there exist many WinXP themes for GTK/Sawfish already)
4. It was only fast after installing it, and after installing about 10 proggys and setting up the network it wasn't faster than win98.
5. I don't like bloatware

The interface and colours were my first reservation about XP!

hey, since there is a windows section now, you don't have to get this post from the very bottom up here again now.... and, there is a winXP thread in the windows section, so say it there ...

I'd DEFINATELY recommend it - my computer used to run on 98SE and while I didnt mind it I wasnt happy either (but I'm clever enough to know not to install Linux or Windows ME so didnt have much choice) - then my mate got XP and I was sold - 2 days later I'd bought new graphics card (my old one had been discontinued or something so there wasn't any XP drivers) and I got XP myself.

Best thing I ever did for my computer since installing Norton Antivirus and Internet Security.

What I wouldn't give for WinXP. But why not install Linux. While I don't like it as much as Windows (mainly because it's slow on my computer) it still pretty dang cool (GIMP has me sold ) [addsig]

you.... you _PAYED_ for it?!
omg.... what a sin... I have it too, but I haven't payed a signle penny
And, I think it was right to not pay anything for it... I threw it off my HDD after 3h of use
Slow, ____BIIIIIIIGGGGGG____, buggy

And, another reason for _not_ choosing M$:
well, just think about 5 days back in time... more than 1/2 of the internet was useless because of.... guess who... yes, you guessed it!! M$!

Actually, KaGez, it wasn't Microsoft's fault. It's the people who didn't update their software's fault. Besides we aren't supposed to talk about illegal things in here, remember . But if you had to deal with Windows all the time, and hadn't experienced the beauty of Linux, XP would be a miracle .

nonono, nothing illegal! I used a disc from school

That would already make it legal, as long as there are enough licenses

I think XP is the best of Windows, and really a rather good product [As freeware that is], but compared to Linux it still lacks stability, and security. Yet, Linux, to some degree, lacks third party software support, and I'v had a few sound type issues with it.
Perhaps Apple is the best of both worlds?? [addsig]

Don't even get me started. I HATE APPLE! [addsig]

I think apple is the same like sony:
The stuff is fscking expensive, but it simply is better than the rest. I myself would love to own a mac note (G4 or something ), but well... I think I don't have enough money for that

Notice that the only thing anyone seems to use apples for is graphics. I love IBM compatibles (if they're even called that anymore) and will NEVER trade it in for a mac. Not to mention they're just out and out ugly. I like my beige box thank you very much [addsig]

if you just look outside the box, you'll probably like those beige thingies more... I also don't like how for example the new iMac looks.... but, if you look under the hood, you'll see that the hardware in Macs is far (I mean it) better than that you will find in those beige boxes. I also like my beige box, but I'd love to have one of those colorful thingies too

Yeah, but I don't think that Macs are that upgradable, at least not that I know of. EIther way, I'm not changing my mind. And I should probably shut up before I start a flame war [addsig]

You can build Macs. I saw on TSS they put a PC [it fit in a 5''drive bay] in a MAC, and had the Mac windows open on XP [The moniter was able to do that]. [addsig]

I use both Windows XP and RedHat linux (though I'm trying to switch to Gentoo) and I must say I prefer linux in many ways, but Windows XP is exceptionally stable, and even though Microsoft tried to prevent it, simple hacks allow the UI to be entirely customizeable.
