What kind of windows programmers do we have? I know a little bit about programming windows in C. I have not done it in a while.

I know lots about C, a teensy bit of C++, I had to tak a VB class as an entry level compsci course in school, I've been doing WinAPI for a while now, and I've used C# (Which I love). I've also dabbled in Pascal windows programming, a little bit of Logo, ASM (but not windows programming in it - just DOS/Console), and a few other languages (Smalltalk, Java, PHP, ASP, whatehaveyou). I love windows API programming, though.
I'm also writing my own OS (ACOS), although I haven't worked on it in a bit.

Mostly Web Devel, PHP/HTLM/VBS/JS/DHTML, VB, ASM, Delphi, Batch.
And most scriptin is easily picked up.

I have done a little bit of WinAPI for using it with OpenGL before, but I got sick of it pretty fast If you ask me, it's just a sick API... but that's a metter of taste
I mostly do PHP/MySQL/HTML/JS/DHTML coding like sacah. What I do else are things like OpenGL, SDL, OpenAL, GLut, GLu and such, including Xlib... but Xlib is almost like WinAPi... a sick API, but not as sick as WinAPI. Nooo, not because it's free. For APIs I give a damn shit if it is free or not. At least for personal use It's just that it (Xlib) isn't as complicated as WinAPI. You don't need those 32098175748574089574985734 lines of code just for creating a window. in Xlib it's enough with about 1/2 of it... anyways, that's why I dislike WinAPI, and not because it's windows or anything

I code a lot of api in ASM, its very easy, and to my knowledge sick means sweet in terms you would understand, well from X-Games that type of USA talk.
(-:
Did you mean Sick = sweet?

I code in VB\HTML\ASP. I've done a little bit of C. Enough to know the basics anyways. I've dabbled in Java and JS. And when my computer isn't working properly and I'm stuck in DOS I use QB. Thank heavens I got my computer working again

I used to do some Delphi programs, but now I mostly do networking in C. My Windows computer is rather messed up though, so I don't code alot on it.

i mainly program in C/C++ but i know a lot of VB aswell. i can do html and i have dabbled with a lot of web scripting languages(PHP, perl, javascript, vbscript, python etc..).
the main thing i use windoze API for is to create windows and GetTickCount() for timing. oh and TextOut till i bother myself to create a DirectDraw font engine
Posted by dxprog on 10:24:00 02-13-2003
Welcome to the community fellow VB user Why don't you just use the DrawText function in DDraw?

DirectDraw for C++ doesn't have one so C++'ers have to use something like TextOut or create a font engine.

I'm a C++ coder with VC++6, though i try and avoid ever creating any win-specific code. Anything that needs a stupid VB type forms interface is prob best done in java or as a server-side dynamic html script for portability, for nice graphics i use GL on top of SDL.

Most of my skills are in Web dev though. Started web dev at 8 and am now almost 10. I do however like VB and ASP a lot to. I learn as I go along the YPN and other sites.

I do VB and HTML, i'm learning C++, though its kinda hard right now because my parents took my computer away; I have to use friend's computers and library computers.
Posted by cowsarenotevil on 14:05:00 08-12-2003
How did you manage to get your computer taken away?
Posted by ItinitI on 02:23:00 08-13-2003
lol I never had my computer physically taken away, but I have been grounded from it like once for like doing "un-ethical" stuff.......
Posted by dxprog on 03:21:00 08-13-2003
I haven't had those problems since I got built my own

probably that's the biggest advantage when you save some money and buy a computer yourself: your parents can't take it away from you!
Also, it feels kinda better to use a computer which is your own computer, and not one somebody gave to you You can do with it whatever you like

C
Dabbled in c++, perl, x86 asm.
I like c as much as I like cheese. I love cheese. Cheese is good.

I know what's messed up about your Win PC - it runs Windows! I bet DInsane could agree with me on that, although he wants a mac and I want Linux.

lol, yeah, I would like a Mac. I'm going to clear this up now, I don't "hate hate" Windows, I just dislike it. But, I love Mac!
P.S.: You answered that question perfectly.

Actually it's a lot harder to find a compiler for mac, and the asm is different, cuz its a diff processor
