Due to public request, and a common need of course, we've created this forum. Any language that will be popular in this forum might get an own one later on.
Have fun posting .

is there also a section for APIs, or can we also talk about 'em in this forum?

Cool - finally something exciting happening *g*
KaGez: I'd say just talk about apis/libs in the forum of the lang you want to use them in... or here, if that lang has no forum....
a dedicated "api" forum would be senseless IMO

I think a dedicated API forum will go great. It just wouldn't fit into a C/C++ forum if you talk in there about GTK, because ppls that know C/C++ don't automatically know GTK :/ Also, many APIs available for C/C++ are also available for Perl and some other langs, so a API forum wouldn't be bad. Just look @ OpenGL. It works on everything from C/C++ to Java

I agree with svara, an api-forum would be senseless. Having one forum for all other programming issues is good enough imho.

if you all think that it would be useless .... I could go to the APIs HP or chatroom and ask there tho (as I'm doing now)....
but since only me is thinking that a API forum is of sence .... looks like I was "wrong" once again /
just forget that idea, and I'll go to other places to talk about APIs.

...
Come on, if you use an api, you use it in some language, right? If somebody wanted to ask a question about OpenGL, then why should he ask in the api forum? people browsing the api forum (assuming people are selctive about what forums they browse) wouldn't necessarily know that specific api. there are just too many of them, and ordering posts by "do they contain a question about an api" into an api forum is no order at all.
That we don't have an "API forum" doesn't mean you're not allowed to ask questions about them - would that really change anything about the answers?
Does not having a dedicated forum for apis mean related questions are not allowed at ypn? I don't understand why you seem to think that way.

Having an API forum, in my opinion, would be like having a forum for "while loops" . If you want something like a graphics programming forum though, tell us .

Peter a graphics forum sounds nice to my
their we can talk about OpenGL, VRML,DirectX
and using with langs like asm, c, c++ and even python. I think thats a great idea

You have a very good point Tweakster. Maybe we should include that in partyfish
