There are quite a few programs, tutorials and code snippets posted to the different sections of youngprogrammers.net. Some of the programs/tutorials are good enough for me to recommend to anyone interested of the topic in question, others are - excuse the expression - just crap. I beleive most of my publications belong to the latter category, but some documents such as Bandi's Bash scripting tutorial, or svara's many Linux tutorials should really have a special position. A more concrete solution to this problem would be to have a section called "Top * programs/tutorials" of the YPN. Operators could add certain publications there if the author and enough of other people nominate the program/document there.
Another thing that doesn't have much to do with the other question is the Hall of fame. I think it's screwed up enough to motivate a complete removal of the section. Don't feel insulted now, Peter and fabs, I think it's almost impossible to make a fair system. Everyone responding to this post, please vote yes or no to this suggestion.

OOOOK, the OPs should move it to those sections ... great! ...
If it is a tutorial about something none of the admins is interested in, I could bet that I could be as good as possible, and nobody'd put it in that section, simply because the OPs are not interested! Instead we should maybe get those with the best ratings, which will also give the user the ability to have a little bit of control over these "Top lists".

Uh, there is no need for a new "section".. We could give all the documents a level number - like, level 0 is common, level 1 is a "Recommended document". Recommended documents should be listed on top in all the sections. What do you think? I think Robert has a good point there, I've been thinking about it too..
And about the HoF - I guess it's just innecessary, if anything..

How about shwoing only the ten (or twenty or whatever) best rated documents in the sections with an option like "x more documents concerning topic xy"? Or simply sorting docs by their ranks.
I think the HoF is a nice thing, but it does not work as it is right now. We hope to get a better one in the next sasquatch (which I will always refert to by the name 'sasquatch' if it's name changes to .partytox ).

I highly agree to MoX. I don't wanna go calculate all points of a document, ask everybody else if they think it's cool too and blahblahblah. It's only loads of work. When people rate a document, their opinion will be reflected in the amount of points, which means that if we would do it like peter says, we would just do double work.
I think we should list the documents with the 10 most high total score, or average score.
