It's not bullshit at all! Go and flame the TruthMEdia editors! All of you! Just don't let your flames pour over to this thread, because seeing as I'm one of few windows supporters I just won't part-take in it

why should I go flame those guys who wrote that? they're probably guys that have used something like MS-DOS up to now ...

I do not know, but how dumb can somebody be...here one quote:
-->--> This was obvious not considered by
-->--> Open-Source Inc. when they were developing -->--> Linux.
Am I the only one here, who doubt the truth behind any article which was seemingly written by someone who thinks Linux was developed by some corp called "Open-Source Inc." ???

hrm, i don't knowm, but considering the article was on somethngawful.com, you can probably safely assume it's a joke...

Posted by Peter on 20:37:00 04-07-2002

am I only unable to see it, or is there really missing a big part of this topic? (e.g. Peter's BIG post....)

Prolly not needed anymore...as fsvara pointed out that it was a joke anyway

but that's no reason to remove a whole series of posts! This isn't the case right now, but I also don't remove posts just because I were wrong or something ....

I didn't remove a series of posts. I removed two posts - my post and one by KaGez where he only states that he agrees to my post. If my post isn't there, it isn't logical to leave KaGez's post, right?
I removed my post because I realized that it would be pointless to argument against the article as it's a joke. I didn't really check the source (I later read about TruthMedia and the author who gets the most flame mails wins, lol) and as I usually take people seriously, and it wasn't April 1, I didn't doubt that the article was seriously written.
I don't want to make myself look funny so why leave the post? I still have the text if someone wants it, although it's useless.

Okay...I only knew that Peter planned to write that post (heard it in the chan). I thought it actually never appeared on the board. Removing posts is not a good thing in my op...

It was there for a while, and I also replied to it, but it that post was also removed... I think posts shouldn't be just removed unless they're attacking someone on personal basis, or are _very_ lame or some kind of that...

I think even these are no reasons for removing posts...
There should be possibilities to stop spammers, but not to erase their former posts. Freedom of opinion is one thing I value very much. Insulting posts should be kept too, cause they show a lot about the poster...

How about if there was a 'vote' button under each message, and people could vote (once per person (limit per week etc?)) and the message is hidden?
A better method would be for the message to be added to an admin-viewable 'hotlist' for possible review (as well as the voter and votee names to prevent abuse of this)
Posted by KaGez on 07:09:00 04-10-2002
I think that's also not too good... anyways, I still think that insulting messages should be removed, since they are threatening the conversations inside that forum extremely in some cases
