General YPN >> TPU joins the new millennium!
Posted by Smerdyakov on 23:56:00 07-14-2003
The Teen Programmers Unite web site, www.tpu.org, has officially been changed to redirect to http://www.hprog.org/fhp/TeenProgrammersUnite . I encourage everyone here to consider what hprog has to offer, compare that to what YPN has (basically just this forum), and decide whether to frequent one or both of them. I, of course, think that hprog is better organized and much more useful, and I hope that none of you will decided to spend all your time on YPN!

Please note that _no_ tutorials are permitted on Hprog.org.

Don't be nasty ItinitI. Quality tutorials are welcomed on HProg (_I_ personally welcome them, can't speak for the others). "ProgrammingForBeginners" was written in very lousy english.

And, god, it could even lead the C newbies to believe that string = "value" was a valid statement! Tell me what kind of C tutorial it is! [addsig]

lol I wasn't being 'nasty', I was stating that soo no one would waste the time to put it up, and peopel liek _you_ wouldnt have to waste their time to format it:P
As far as tuts, Smerdy made it pretty clear he didn't want tuts on the site...
"...I think tutorials have no place on this web site, given how many already exist. I'm sorry you spent the time to clean it up, Neumann..."

I don't quite care about the opinion of Smerdyakov. He is not The Ruler of the Wiki (Well, he has admin rights, but if he starts abusing them the wiki will no longer be a wiki). The community rules the wiki and if the community decides that a tutorial stays, it will stay.

I do share the opinion that the wiki should not become a repository of poorly written tutorials. The Internet just would point at us and laugh...

Refactoring a page is not a waste of time. It was the first post of that person so we could not expect him to know MoinMoin formatting rules by heart. And that's what wiki are for. If someone post an incomplete document for any reason, someone can just go and enhance it.

But of course, the first writer shouldn't expect that other people will rewrite his whole text...

Sorry i don't get it. Why do you want the people from this board to join hprog, this is lame. If hprog would be so great, you'd have enoug people...

To nh:

This forum is that last publicly active part of YPN and there are not that many active posters (and even less after Smerdyakov and I gets banned). The whole YPN may ressucitate in the future but in the meantime, we know that HProg is a better place for young programmers. It's a new, well-alive, organisation that tries to achieve similar goals. That is why we are trying to bring in new people. [addsig]

To that last post: Okay, whatever.

NeuMan & SMerdy: This is NOT a place to advertise for TPU. Go someplace else and do that. Now either stop it or you all are out!

"Talk about the YPN itself here. Submit ideas, constructive criticism, and anything you'd like to tell us.
You might also want to come to the IRC channel #ypn on irc.freenode.net, to chat with us live."

I'm not a moderator or anything, but this spam isn't even in the right board.

Cheez, at least read the board descriptions.

Thanks, kenikov. Maybe you'll make the team when we get partfish up [addsig]

Hmmm...I saw someone on #YPN making a partyfish logo.

It was pretty cool. I think Kurt made it. It changed colours everytime I reloaded the page.
