You can tell you're at a bad school if you can take classes on particular programming tools. Just learn to code, and you'll soon be able to do what you desire. ("Soon" here is a few years....)

The college I've been looking at (Tulsa University) starts out with Java, and then moves on to assembly and C with a few others here and there. Not sure what C builder they use, but it's on Unix systems so I doubt it would be BCC. [addsig]

http://www.gamedev.net has a quite good list about american universities which offer programming stuff. Maybe taking a look at it would be good for you

I think gamedev just lists schools which offer _game_development_ courses.

In general, no school is going to teach you programming. You will always have to learn the important things on your own, from experience. If you are incapable of doing this, find another vocation.

Hey, if I'm lucky I won't have a thing to learn in college [addsig]

smerdyakov:
well, usually unis offering game programming courses also offer different programming courses, and those are usually also listed on the page of that uni. Look before complaining!

Hey, I didn't even know that there were colleges that taught game programming. Good news for me [addsig]

Kage, my assertion (with which most people agree) is that "programming classes" aren't enough to teach you to be a good programmer. Nothing substitutes for hands on experience driven by your own motivation. That is what I was saying.

but they will give you the basics, and without the basics you won't get _anywhere_
