General YPN >> Serial Internet Project

I would like to be able to use IRC and other networking programs on my DOS-based 386. I think the easiest would be using the serial port, and connect the 386 to my other computer with an ADSL connection.

What I need is this:
1) A Windows program for my ADSL computer, that can handle both TCP/IP (with the internet) and serial cable communication (with the 386).
2) Drivers for the 386, that communicates with the ADSL computer via serial cable, and provides an API for internet programs on the 386.
3) Client programs for the 386, using the drivers API.

The routing program (1) could be written in almost any language, for example C, C++, VB and Delphi.

The drivers for the 386 (2) must be written in a low- or medium-level language, like assembler, C or Pascal.

Client programs could be written in any language, like QB, Pascal, C--, C, C++ and assembler.

Does this sound interesting? If you are interested, tell me what you would like to do If I get any response, I'll create a project web site, and an FTP account where project members can upload code.

For people who really wants to have some kind of a server running on their old 386- computers, we could include port forwarding from the main computer to the old computer.

Very very neat idea, but I don't really know if I can help. I feel very fit for coding right now so I'd say I'll help when I can .

Thanks, Péter

Anyone wanna be a more active member, and help with planning and a lot of the coding?
