General YPN >> rpcss.exe and mdm.exe and this whole damn conspiracy
Posted by meRk on 11:11:00 08-14-2001
guys, whoever uses windows, office, visual basic, visual c++, interdev, ANYTHING MICROSOFT, you're in for a surprise:

it was on my local news and all over the NET:
rpcss.exe (found on any windows system) opens up port 135 for sensitive data that will be sent from that computer to the microsoft database. there is also mdm.exe, which actually records some software's most recent serial number to check if it's duplicate/valid(cracked). so if you're one of the guys who cracks/keygens/warez/pirates software - you are in trouble. that serial information is directly sent to microsoft's database. even in the microsoft's agreement, claims, 'Do not tamper with rcpss.exe or mdm.exe, as it sends very sensitive and important data over the WWW'. to fix this and you don't want your privacy invaded do the following:
RENAME:
rcpss.exe --> rcpss.ex_
mdm.exe --> mdm.ex_
start-->run-->msconfig-->startup-->disable mdm.exe
there are some registry entries on
current user/microsoft/windows/ole
and
current user/windows/dcom
'i think those are the correct entry keys'
'if not, search for 'mdm''
thank you and be safe from ms!
- microsoft world domination has came

Hm, Microsoft says that Linux is a virus. It seems, though, that Windows is a trojan.

Suprised? I've asked myself for years why they didn't have such functions in Windows.

All the more reason for people to get linux. Its all Opensource source and can see whats in and out of your computer. Nothing is hidden. For christ sake get Linux. BTW: Anyone who gets in any trouble because of Microsoft for cracking stuff, well lets just say that you can get a handsome wage from Microsoft in the courts. They, and any other companies have NO RIGHT what so ever to see what goes on in your personal computer. Now I guess we all know what Steve Gibson is talking about with his Mystery Project then
