Anybody interested in writing games? Anybody wanting to help other game developers? Well, then join me with my re-born game project
Currently it's only me working on it, and the first game will be "TuxRacing" which I'm currently working on. If you're interested in how the page look (still nothing there tho), go to http://kagpro.sf.net . There is already 1 person interested in joining, an he'll probably join within the next days. I don't make the name official, because I don't know if he likes it or not if I just post it.
Well, if you're interested in working on a game, then simply send me a mail or leave a msg here
Have a nice day.

I think I'm already part of the project. I have pushed back my current game project until later so I have plenty of time to help you with this.

well, if you think so, I'll say it:
it's not you
The person I'm talking about knows it, and I've talked about this with him for quite a while yesterday, in a priv msg

sure, since I already know you quite much, you're heck welcome and, I think we don't need to talk about it much either, since we already worked together for quite a while
Anyways, for all those who are interested, there _are_ a few requirements (only a few):
SSH knowledge, time, IRC knowledge, ability to use CVS (nut much is it? )
About CVS:
The web page will not be put into CVS. Nothing which could (or is) binary will be put into CVS, since that will bring up major problems. If you put a image into CVS through linux (in "linux-binary", which isn't really binary....), windows will have some major problems reading them. It looks like the problem doesn't occur if you do it the other way. Anyways, cvs will be text data only (Code, help files, etc.).
My idea about the project is the following:
"DX Games" will be the development center for all the various game projects, and each game has it's own project again, if possible. Small games, like tetris clones and such, will be "hosted" by "DX Games". All other "big" projects will have it's own project, and will be published through "DX Games", which is the central organ. Another mission of "DX Games" will be something like gamedev.net. Provide starter tutorials for game developers, and articles about _portable_ API, hence APIs which run on all major systems out there (ClanLib, GLut, SDL, OpenGL etc.). Also, "DX Games" should _maybe_ (still very unclear) provide some simple tools which help game development.
As you can see, if you're interested in games, no matter how, this is a place for you to live
Also if you're interested in playing games, we have a placereserved for you: Beta testers on all major platforms are welcome. The only thing they will need to be able to is to write detailed bug reports. No need of programming knowledge
Well, that's all I know about the project now.

I know you weren't talking about me, I'm just saying when there was a projects section you added me in. As stated before, I'm using this as a learning experience. I can help with little things.

Simple things, such as, not sure if this is in your plans, saving scores to disk, or designing and programming the menus. You know things that are fairly simple.

The book, "Programming Linux Games" is now available as a free download from http://www.overcode.net/~overcode/writing/plg/ It has good info on some of the APIs KaGeZ mentioned, and lots of stuff on SDL. Even though the book is about Linux, most of the info in it about the libs will apply to windows too. It's a really cool book And, it should be helpful to anyone who wants to join KaGeZ's project

Is there a Windows program that will read .tex files? WordPad\Word doesn't format it right.

there is a pdf file on each server.... go get that one and then install adobe acrobat reader and you're set to go
Btw, thx for the great link. That book looks awsome (still read only 20 pages, but it's cool ).
dxprog:
if you're interested you could write tutorials for game programming. I'm thinking of including DirectX stuff, but..... nah! I want that project to use portable things only, which run on all major platforms. Same goes for Linux (UNIX). There shouldn't be any X specific stuff, WinAPI, DirectX etc. Anyways, help is welcome. We could maybe talk about this more efficiently in IRC, but since you (dxprog) can't come to IRC I'd prefer mail, because I will be able to note a incoming mail way faster than a incoming msg on this board. Even if I check this board about 3-6 times a day

I've tried to e-mail you before, but it always comes back saying that it couldn't be delivered. I'm not sure if I'm using the right address or not. About writing game tutorials I might try. At the moment I'm writing a series of JScript tutorials, then I think I'll do that. At the moment I'm busy with a project though, so don't expect anything until next month or later.

Okay, I didn't see the PDF of it. It looks to be a good "book". I am going to see if I can install Linux, X, GCC, and KDE on my computer this Saturday that I way I'm using the same OS.
