I and wossname have been working on a little experimental project called PICC (PIC Cluster). It's an emulator that simulates a number of PICs (small processors, used in small electronic devices). It should simply offer an environment to practice simple multiprocessor programming. An early version is avaiable (together with a manual, and some NASM hacks to offer a quick-and-dirty assembler for the PICs) for download here.

It should be able to compiler (or at least easily be ported) to DOS/Windows (and other platforms), since it's ANSI C.

A more complete version will be uploaded soon, and I'll post a note here about it.

You could code your own devices (and make the emulator able to use graphics, keyboard etc.) Otherwise it's not really funny

I still don't really get what it is for... sorry for being stupid... but it sounds interesting indeed... emulators are cool =D

It's there for playing
I wanted to test how it's like to program a system with more than one CPU. That's simply the reason I wrote it. Maybe I'll sometime try to code a system for it (even though coding it isn't the easiest you can think of).

maybe you can tell us some places where it'll come to action or how it could be used etc.
that would simplify things a bit I think

KaGez, this is not the kind of program you really 'use' for anything else than learning multiprocessor programming. It's like you making a fractal with OpenGL it has no 'use' either.

oh, just thought that it can be "used" ... the description above sounded somewhat "useful"

Useful or not, I posted it. Rate fair, if I see the word "useless" in your rating...

bah, useless program!
I bet moondude is gonna rate it as "useless"

this prog seems very interesting.. I'll rate it.

KaGez: Don't give moondude any bad ideas!

you can check my rating already .. it's a cool idea... I wish I'd understand enough to play with it.

No, you don't.

Coding for PICC is like chewing on your own brain - it does bad things to your mind. Just kidding, but seriously, it's not really any point in coding for PICC since there are no input or output devices. However - feel free to add such devices

robost86, I could use some help re: osdev. I have a forum set up in the projects section. [addsig]
