General YPN >> NOTE: Anonymous Posting
Posted by KaGez on 22:22:00 08-30-2003
Due to the fact that parts of our members lately seem to be unable to behave, the decision has been made to disable anonymous posting globally on the YPN Message Boards.
It seems like people feel a immense power or strength in anonymously posted insults. Therefore, to keep cowards from posting insults anonymously, anonymous posting has been globally diabled and IP tracking has been turned on.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this will cause to you. Thank you for your kind understanding and cooperation.

PS:
Anonymous posting will be disable for a while now, until people maybe have learned how to live with eachother without insuling each other immediately.

There will always be people who fight, regardless of what you do. If they are a true nuisance, the only choice will be to ban them.

At least we'll know who said it [addsig]

that's the point. If somebody has go give his name, he doesn't say such nonsence things as with a anonymous name.

You can log anonymouse poster's IP's, though, can't you? And actually, most people really intent un insulting will start another account, either behind a proxy or with a dynamic IP. Anonymouse posters can be useful too. I think they should be allowed, if only in some forums.

I actually find it amusing, that people are so frightened and intimidated by me, that they must hide themselves in order to throw insults at me over the internet! Not only must they hide behind their computer, but they dare not to use their real name?

Am I really that terrifying? Or is it just the "Swift" next to my name that is so ominous?
Posted by dxprog on 11:11:00 08-31-2003
I think they should be more terrified of the "Jedi Master" [addsig]

They are more afraid of you. You have Jedi Powers.

Swift is a Pokemon move. I won't be afraid to use it, it is almost 100% accurate. Swift is also a basketball player, they must be afraid since I am 6'9 ft. I also entered the slam dunk contest!

Why do people think I hate hprog anyways? It inhabits a large amount of lunatics, but I do not hate it!

Just because I constantly pester Adam (who has a deep self-esteem problem), and his other IRC friend, doesn't mean I hate them! I just love their reactions!

Good...there is no reason for anonymous posting except negativity.

well, there are indeed reasons for anonymous posting, but on this page it seems to be abused instead of being used.
Anonymous people can still _look_ at the forums, so there isn't much of a inconvenience for one-time visitors.

ItinitI:
If you'd look at the above post properly, you'd see that it is a registered username
The small icon looking like a computer on the bottom of posts will show you the IP of the poster. That is, if you're a admin
Also, I don't have a problem to remove that username and block it
