Don't look to me for math stuff. I'm still trying to grasp Algebra. [addsig]

I just started calculus in my Additional Maths - It looks simple enough from what we have done so far, I just hope it doesn't become impossibly hard.
Posted by KaGez on 20:11:00 10-11-2002
everybody hopes that stuff doesn't get impossibly hard, but sometimes it's just better to do the impossibly hard stuff too, trust me

I'm going to take all the impossably hard courses and become a programming master I have a shot at becomming a programmer at LucasArts. It's my life long dream. [addsig]

to work as a programer is a bad idea imho.
but to work as project manager would be great.

just a thought
Posted by KaGez on 19:09:00 10-12-2002
project managers just sit on their fat lazy asses and lollipop hell out of the programmers. They are simply too stupid and useless for programmin, that's why they get that job
[addsig]
Posted by sacah on 21:11:00 10-12-2002
They got paid tons more than a programmer though
Posted by KaGez on 22:26:00 10-12-2002
that doesn't change the fact that they're stupid lame asses
[addsig]
Posted by dxprog on 22:53:00 10-12-2002
Who cares how much more they get paid. I want to do what is fun, not what rakes in the most cash. [addsig]
Posted by fsvara on 00:46:00 10-13-2002
then, leave the real world asap.
Posted by sacah on 11:20:00 10-13-2002
Project Managers have managment skills, and people managment skills etc, they were not hired for their codin skills, thats what the programmers are for.
But, yes, If you just want to do it for fun, and not money, leave the real world, as you get older you will discover money plays a big part.

Posted by KaGez on 22:24:00 10-13-2002
I know that money plays a big role, but that _still_ doesn't change the fact that project managers (for applications) are fallen dumbass programmers
[addsig]
Posted by dxprog on 00:41:00 10-14-2002
Let me rephrase that. Sure I'm in it for the money, but I also don't want to be stuck in a job that I don't like. [addsig]
Posted by KaGez on 11:20:00 10-14-2002
bloody true ....
[addsig]
Posted by sacah on 21:36:00 10-14-2002
Um... Kagez you just dont get it.
This is pointless.
Its like a totally diferent skills required, their not meant to be programmers, they are ppl mangaers etc.
duh, thats why they got the job, programmers are horrible at managment skills.
Posted by KaGez on 23:19:00 10-14-2002
you wanna tell me that you need 0 programming knowledge to be a project manager of a computer application? you must be kidding :/
[addsig]
Posted by dxprog on 02:09:00 10-15-2002
From what I've seen, project managers rose from the programming area. Like the guy responsible for Mario and Zelda. He was originally a programmer, now he's a project manager. [addsig]
Posted by sacah on 16:36:00 10-15-2002
Some programming skills would be good, but from what ive seen, they arent required, I had 2 manager ppl with the police and they knew nothing about computers, but they got the job because the ppl that hire them are ppl who work in admin section, also knowing nothing about computers, these ppl just look for pieces of paper, and managment papaer shines brighter than computers etc.

I know its stupid, but that is how much of the government system works, and its how much of the real world works from my limited experience.
Thats why programmers hate them so much.
Posted by KaGez on 17:29:00 10-15-2002
I only love project mans who are also developers in that project
a good example would be Carmack. He's the project manager of Doom (series) but also codes on it, or not?
[addsig]

Yeah, I think so .

I reckon you can be a project manager without actual developing skills - it's the ability to set up, manage and delegate the work that is relevant in this case. However, it's probably a lot better to have programmers become project managers
Posted by sacah on 19:37:00 10-15-2002
its much better if he has programming skills, cause then he knows what can be done, instead of him[(her) (-;] wantin you to do somethin like change the rotation of earth. But as the world functions today, majority dont have programming skills as they arent hired by programmers, but the admin/managment section of the business, who also, dont understand programming.
Posted by KaGez on 22:03:00 10-15-2002
that's what I'm talking about! it must be almost impossible to get a group of programmers under one hat if you don't know anything about app development and try to let them get something....
[addsig]
Posted by sacah on 17:18:00 10-16-2002
well, he hires programmers, they get sick of workin under these conditions as the project isnt their line of work, they leave, they hire someone else, this keeps goin till the right person is found.
(-:
Welcome to the real world
