Why not? If there is enough interest for a new forum, then it should be opened. I intend to learn Java some day, so I'd be interested in some Forum or Section on Java. So where are all the Java Coders? If you want your code-language on this site you have to shout out now...

From what Ive seen, even if you have ppl interested in the New section, they still wont create one, (Refering to the Windows section)
I learnt java to make a cross platform IRC client, but got bored with the encryption part, and left it undeveloped.

What 'mess' are you talking about IbYdl?
I for example do all my coding with jEdit, a nice and powerful text-editor, which is not even a bit messy.
And putting java in the webprogramming section would definitely be wrong. I don't know what you think Java is, but it is definitely a much wider topic than webprogramming.
(I really _really_ REALLY hope you're not talking 'bout JavaScript... )

Speed. It's slow as hell.
Also - everyone bitches that C# lollipops because it's a proprietary MS language, but how many companies make Java? Oh yeah, that's right, only Sun. But Sun's not MS, so people with names like "1337_JaVa_H4x0R!!!" conveniently overlook it when bashing C#.

Yeah, Java _is_ definitely a bit slow. But that is probably the cost of compatibility. I have not yet seen C# for Linux, but I can use Java with a lot of OSes...

it _is_ slower, but the perfect, no-recompile, cross-platform ability that it _should_ have would make it a really cool thing.
