I think that there should be a revision ,if not totally re-done, logo for main page.

I'm actually thinking of making a totally new design. It's a vanity thing, but I want to do it myself in that case .

it can't (or at least shouldn't) contain too big o too many images. It should be plain HTML if possible, because on this server the YPN has a bandwidth limit... I think for now we should leave it as it is

What is wrong with the current design of the ypn? I don't thinkk it's that bad...And I'm one of those guys who always like the plain sites much more than the effect-full stuff. I want content, cause when I visit the site for the third time I don't really see the design anymore.

Don't worry, the design will be simple anyhow.. As a webdesigner though, I sometimes feel an urge to re-make things I've done... and improve them. But first I will _really_ finish the projects section .

Peter:
How about waiting with re-doing the design untill it's definite that we get a new host? shouldn't be too long, so I think you should be able to survive that

I agree with KaGez on this matter. I'm very sure we'll be hosted somewhere else very soon where bandwidth is not as tight as now.
I have recently contacted Richard Stallman, the president of the Free Software Foundation, and he has agreed on finding us a host.
This is a big improvement to our situation and I think getting a host is only a matter of time. But this should not stop you from designing new pages, I mean, you don't have to upload them to THIS server just yet
Maybe we should make different designs and test them on several things like: How fast is it? How good does it look? Is it an appropriat design or does this look like we're one of those l33t h4xor-groups?
Questions like that
Anybody in for a designing-contest?
I'll maybe write a little web-bot (not intelligent, just useful ) to check for speed, size etc

I agree that the YPN could be a little more graphical.
Posted by Peter on 11:23:00 03-25-2002
Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to make a super graphical flashy thing.. just a new design . So I agree to what KaGez and Fabs said. I'm not going to dive straight into it, I'll just play around with it locally.
I am actually against a design contest, because that would make me feel like I'm not the webmaster of YPN anymore... I might be an ego, but everybody has their obsessions, right? And I really feel like I want to keep this myself, that is, if everybody is not against me doing it.

HERE HERE!!! ME ME ME ME!!!
I'd _love_ to do a new design for the YPN!
so, if you really want something new, sprinkled with high-Q and low-sized graphics, ask me!
The best idea'd be to implent themes support into sasq2. It isn't difficult at all, and is one rocking feature
Anyways, as said above, I'd love to make a new design too

Sasq2 is just backend, not frontend, so it can't be skinnable... I get your point though.
Unless everyone's against it, I insist on doing the design myself, that is, the structure and overall look. Of course, suggestions is welcome, with stuff such as a logo.

ok, then do it yourself
I'll do my own page's design and crate logos for other site in the meanwhile

As all of you guys appear to be so logo-crazy perhaps someone can design a smaller ypn-logo or icon that all ypn-members can put on their web-sites as a link to this site. You probably know this practice from SourceForge.
