Ok, so, I'm trying to install Source Mage linux. So, it seems to install, but lilo never launches when i reboot [All i get is a black screen with "LI" in the corner].
So...Im thinking I didn't get the partions right...b/c I just made one for Linux for the whole hard drive. Do I _have_ to make a /boot partion?? And...it seems to put the swap as part of / partion in stead of a seperate partion for swap.
Um...basicaly, I want Lilo to boot from the MBR, so what should the lilo.conf look like?? LOL, I'm thrown off by the boot=/devices/discs/disc0/part1 . [I was used to something like: boot=/dev/hda ] The instructiosn for getting lilo to work i was confused by.
And, do I _really_ need a 1024M swap w/ 192M RAM??
So..please help!! ThanX!

No, you don't need a 1GB swap! I think that most people recommend twice your RAM as swap.. iirc. although I don't follow that, I've got 512mb RAM and about 600MB swap.. whatever.
Anyway, if your linux partition is beyond cylinder 1024 on your hard drive, you will probably need the /boot partition, as far as I know.
If your hard drive is some UDMA type (like mine), there is another solution..

I think peter said it all.
Also, you may want to try GRUB.
