There is no such thing as sasquatch anymore as of 2002-08-21. What was reffered to as sasquatch up to now is since 2002-08-21 to be called .thought
We though about a new name for quite a long time (the currently active .thought developers), and we came to a conclusion that .thought will be a quite good name for the YPN's next generation PHP Engine. And, I would like to point out that most of the .though devel team agreed with this name, also the "core" of the development team (aka moxx + kage-chan). I was didn't want to carry the image of sasquatch into the next generation engine, since sasquatch2 is full of uncompleted code, usability issues etc., most of the are negative. I wanted to have a clean, still unknown image for the next generation engine. You disagree with the above? Then proove me wrong.... all .though developers have agreed on _this_ I don't wanna say that sasquatch is useless, no, not in any way. But, sasquatch was something that was just sitting on the server, and waiting for somebody to come. And, barely anybody used sasquatch itself... ok, there wasn't too much in sasquatch to "use"... most people play around with the msg board, which doesn't belong to sasquatch in any way. The projects section also wasn't really integrated into sasquatch, so I think we can't really call using the projects section using sasquatch.
The meaning of the next generation engine is almost the opposite of sasquatch. It does not only sit in there and wait fomr somebody to coma along, no. It is supposed to attackt users, to use it over and over, for example with the ability to discuss news. polls, or other things.
So, the "image" of sasquatch wouldn't have fit into the new engine. That's why I requested a name change, which has been successfully done now.
Long lives .thought!

Hm, "we"? I don't really care a whole lot about the name, but "Sasquatch" is still just a name, and not some expression for an old concept. Also, I think ".thought" isn't a very original name..
But basically: do as you like, I can't estimate what right I have to even open my mouth about it.. and as I said, I'm not very concerned by the name. (although I would prefer a more rare name)

we also had names like "partyfish" (which was also great imho), "AquaTox" and some others.
And, everybody has a right to open his mouth, since this is GPL software, and not some closed source stuff which is owned by 1 signle person. It's only that moxx and I worked most on sasquatch, and I think therefore we should be allowed to have a little more of the grip about of it. I don't wanna say that we should have the right alone, no, I just want to point out that moxx and I (mostly) worked hard to get it what it is now. So we also want some respect from the others, because this is nothing that everybody would do for the ypn, not even all od the OPs would (imho).

that's what I said too, but only geqo and I seems to like that. And, after thinking a bit, .thought is also a quite good name imo. I wouldn't use it if I were alone, but I think it's a cool name for a engine like this

wow... personally, i don't think users would be very happy to be attacked over and over again by a php engine.. heh
as for the name.. well, peter is right that "sasquatch" is more of a real name, but thought should convey the meaning of an angine that thinks in the background (like a human who thinks) and outputs something dependant on what he thought (like a human who talks)...

you could list 1000s of reasons why this engine is called .thought
Tell me 1 reason why sasquatch was called sasquatch?

KaGez: Because it is quite an original name. ".thought" has no fantasy..
Ok, so if three of us prefer "partyfish", who's in majority?

hmmm... ok, let's make a poll for all of those who have access in here, and are active. I'll post it in a new thread.

why has thought no fantasy.. ti's at least quite original for a php engine imo
