Is there anyway I can change my IP address or put up a fake one without calling my ISP?

Why would you want to do that? In Windows you can set a fixed address if you want. [addsig]

It is safer, and could come in use.

Yeah, I'v wanted to spoof my IP for a time now... For one thing, total confidenteality is a rather fine goal.

can't you just use a proxy server for that? just a idea...

I don't know, can you?

I need to change it so I have a dynamic one or at least a decoy. I don't feel like calling my ISP.

Is there a free way to do this?

Proxies=EVIL. And if you're planning on using one for a p2p network (like kazaa) it won't work, so don't bother.
