The bubbling cauldron >> How did you find out about the YPN
Posted by dxprog on 02:45:00 10-19-2002
I just thought of this, but the YPN may owe it's allegiance to VB. The link I found to here came from Lucky's VB Gaming Site, which I found in a book about VBasic. Who knows how many of the YPNs users came from there.

Note - this post is not intended to start flamewars, so keep that in mind!

Now that I consider it, there aren't very many VB programmers on here. So my theory is probably wrong. Never mid. How about this be "Hown did you find out about the YPN" [addsig]

I found out from TPU, when they're talking of merger with YPN. [addsig]

What's TPU? [addsig]

dxprog: I do think there are quite a lot of VB programmers.. so why not, and Lucky's is one of the cooler VB sites.

About TPU, read http://www.youngprogrammers.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=1002&forum=11&36

Okay, I remember that now. I agree about Lucky's site. I made my first VB game after reading tutorials from there. It was better than anything I did in QB, but it was still cheesy. In fact I haven't made a game that isn't cheesy, which is why I took my brother on as my graphics artist. [addsig]

I can't take my brother as graphics artist, but I can take him as music artist And, I could use myself for a graphics artist, so there's no prob for me
maybe I'll start to get into music too a bit.... let's see.... I think I've got something about that music stuff on my home page

I read that when I was going to your partyfish mirror yesterday. I didnn't think keyboards were that expensive. Over here they're only around $100 at cheapest. [addsig]
Posted by KaGez on 23:01:00 10-22-2002
and they're already _way_ cheaper than some years ago
but, I think it's a payable price if you have your fun... I mean, you'd also pay more than $1000 for a complete PC, won't you?

You have a point there. [addsig]

i came here from a banner at qb45.com or maxcode.com dunno exactly anymore but i'm pretty sure it was qb45. the funniest thing is, ypn didnt had a very good look but ypn is still here and qb45 (the original) is gone [addsig]
Posted by dxprog on 09:22:00 11-03-2002
qb45 is gone? That was one of the best sites when I was still doing QB. [addsig]
Posted by HeavyJ on 09:35:00 11-03-2002
it's not really gone, but it's sold to other ppl [addsig]

How did I find the YPN? Through an OpenProjects (now freenode) channel listing.

www.GOOGLE.COM

I'm new to the site. I found out about it purely by chance (google search). This is what I have been looking for. By the way, the statement about BASIC on this site, where it says that you don't have to worry about memory adresses and data types, is totally wrong IF you are experienced with the language. Not to flame or anything, just thought I'd point that out. Anyway, this look real cool, my compliments to the authors.

P.S. How come im the newest thing on the message board since the stone age?
Posted by dxprog on 06:28:00 07-10-2003
If I understand you correctly, we're working on the new web engine and haven't been really worrying about the upkeep of the old one. So that's why everything is ages old. [addsig]

I found this channel through #TPU when everyone was making fun of #YPN.

So I joined #YPN and found the site as well.

I'll probably be spending more time here now that TPU has been...killed .

HProg is a generalization of TPU. It INCLUDES TPU.

I found this place thru a link somewhere (I don't remember where), which took me to the old site (ypr.34sp.com). That was a deadlink, so I found it through Yahoo.
