I hope to create a web browser with Perl/Tk
Or Perl + Tcl/Tk
I'm also thinking of making a "Build your own UNIX shell (without C/C++/Asm)" tutorial, I've practiced making UNIX/Linux shells in Perl

oh, lol. I looked @ ComWiz's join date and the topic was also kind-of-join-message

I joined YPN in October, but I started this topic on the 11/02/2002.
Anyway, I'm trying to learn Tk in Perl, and I may write that UNIX shell tutorial.
Also - I need help using my modem with my Linux box(I am using my WebTV, which also runs on Linux to post this message), my modem is a Thundercom 336 TV

comwizz: still obsessed with writing shells in perl?
Posted by ComWizz on 19:36:00 02-13-2002
fsvara: Yes! 100% obsessed!
Nah, but it is good fun, and they work independently.
The only small problem is the Sh scripting language implementation.
the if command, I can't implement yet.
And I have deleted all code.
Do you think I should try write a shell in Perl again?

Just a question, how come when I post the message it says "Kiddie", how do I change that?
Posted by robost86 on 22:19:00 02-13-2002

Check the board's FAQ, it lists all the available levels and how many posts you need for them.

comwizz: just because you found out how to get a higher level doesn'tg mean you have to post everything twice
Posted by ComWizz on 17:44:00 02-14-2002
Sorry fsvara, I didn't mean to, maybe I click "Post" twice by mistake.
Posted by KaGez on 13:57:00 02-15-2002

KaGez: I heard of Linux magazine, I got a subscription form when I got Mandrake.
Anyway, KaGez, I don't think you should look at the website, it just has a picture of Tux on it.
I'm going to use it as a place to display my projects for Gnu/Linux.
Maybe I should also put links to projects which I am not part of.

there's a "linux user" here, too, but it's more for beginners... i know most stuff they write already... then there's the linux magazin, which is really cool... however, it's going more and more into the "professional" direction, that is, targetting sysadmins and people who work with linux professionally... For example, they reviewed tape drives for backups not long ago, and the cheapest one they reviewed was 2000Euro.
Posted by KaGez on 07:03:00 02-16-2002
the "Linux User" over here is made by a volunteer group. They collect ppls who want to write something useful, let em write it, correct it and make it up, and then they get some guys who wanna put some ADs in it and let it print. So there's everything, from beginners to advanced

ok... Here these magazines have editors who write a lot of the articles, but articles from readers are also accepted and printed if they're good.
Posted by KaGez on 13:20:00 02-16-2002
yeah. But most articles in that mag are from readers
