Hello! I am new here, and therefore I thought it would be appropriate of me to introduce myself. My name is Daniel, I live in Oslo, Norway. I am 16 years old. I have been programming more or less since I was about 9 or 10 years old, starting out with QBasic. I became quite good at QBasic, although I have never really reached the truly advanced level. A few years later I discovered Delphi and was thrilled by how easy it was. But for some reason I actually like command-line programs. I guess you could say I am very nostalgic I eventually discovered C as well and I didn't really feel like learning it. It seemed to be way too complicated. But I eventually started learning it, and I am impressed by the language. C is a great language in my opinion (so is C++, but I only know the basics). I am still at the beginner to intermediate level (mainly because I tend to be too impatient and way too lazy to actually learn a programming language very well ), but I am starting to realize how much power there is in languages like C and C++. And quite frankly, Windows is crappy! (Especially Windows XP, unless you are in desperate need of an operating system which will jeopardize your computer's security) Too bad I am stuck with it because I didn't pay for the PC I am using, and my parents, who payed for it, wouldn't want me to screw up the computer while trying to install Linux, like I haven't screwed it up more than enough already . I know some basic HTML as well, and I have fooled around with plenty of programming languages, although I have never really explored one seriously. Until now, anyway. YPN is a great place to go for information and help because there isn't much help to get from the forums where the gurus don't have time for the newbies. Besides, it shows that there are plenty of young programmers out there. Keep up the good work! It's time for school again for me tomorrow, so I won't be able to participate very actively on this message board. But, I just wanted to say hello to everyone. So, thank you and see ya!

Welcome to YPN and thanks for introducing yourself. Yes, Windows craps on, and I suggest you'd get RedHat 7.1, the install is much smoother than Windows ME install =).
(I'll soonly upload a little "report" on that, really funny).
Windows is an insecure, programmer-hostile, proprietary piece of junk . I only have it installed because of some games that my brother plays.
