Anyone in here have VS.NET non-beta(I don't even have it...have you seen that price? I wanted to cry ) or done any work with .NET languages such as C#, C++.NET, Cobol.NET, Fortran.NET, ASP.NET, VB.NET, etc? I've done some work in ASP.NET, it's really nice. I've also tampered with C# which I really like a lot, and I love how you can access C# classes from C++.NET. I played with VB.NET for a bit, and it's actually starting to come togther as a decent language.
So what do you guys think of .NET, anyhow? Love it? Hate it? Couldn't care less?

It looks like they've gone and revamped the VB GUI totally. Hate it.

I did not follow the .NET thing, its just annoyin thing MS brought out to make heaps of money, as Ken said, but It is a good idea, tries to make standards without programming languages, and aim more at Web devel I think, but its just a rip off at current prices.

C++.NET is not a new language, as I'm sure you thought when you read that, but just the .NET implementation of C++.
I'm all for .NET, but I know MS is going to push it too much and stop making regular compilers. Plus, you're right, the pricing is downright ghastly. It's probably the most warez-d thing on the planet.

Yes, its the same old languge though aimed at a web interface(to my knowledge), its understandable warezed. You find most Microsoft products for programming etc are aimed at professional users, thats why they are priced so, and to your supprise a lot of companies pay this ripoff prices for it too, so all those end users that warez it are paid for by the comps that buy it
(-:
Though warez is still not right.

why pay for programs if you can get them free?
anyways, is there a difference between all those proggin languages and *.NET languages? it seems somewhat strange to me if I see C++.NET, because it's somewhat.... errrmm... it looks like you forced it into the place if you know what I mean.

I belive its C++ aimed at the Web Platform, but I have not followed .NET much.

The .NET languages are nothing more than the same old languages geared towards the .NET platform, ie they can access all of the special libraries/classes, they're compiled into the special .NET code or whatever, and they can share with other .NET apps (Like, you can write a class in C++, initialize it in C#, and use it in VB)
It really doesn't have much to do with webservices, etc. Except that they're easier than ever to do...
