I advise against GeoCities. If you have scripts their script errors mess tour scripts. Otherwise I would suggest:

Brinkster.com
TriPod.com

Yeah. It's kind of like what MSN is saying about AOL. You kind of grow out of it. It was OK when I was just using HTML, but those days are long gone. [addsig]

Install apache and get yourself a dyndns [addsig]

MoX:
it'd be _great_ if it'd work for everyone! I'd host all my stuff myself, since my connection speed is enough for that... but I'm firewalled, which makes it impossible... there might be others with the same problem...

If you're looking for a good, free, bannerless PHP/mySQL host (no Perl), try http://www.maxi-web.net/ [addsig]

Im looking at payin for hostin now, Its like $150 a year, thats Australian, thats not to bad. Look within your own country and you should find pretty good deals, this is much better than tryin to fid good Free hosts, if such thing exists anymore!

If you own the site too, you can start puttin up your own advertising and makin a little bit of cash to help pay for hosting etc.

I installed apache and got myself DynDNS long time ago but i want to know how to get the PHP plugin of php.net working on apache?!? cant find any folder [addsig]

yes i have read
i the magazin "Chip" about DynDNS.
So you have an Webserver
with DSL.
You musst have websites from another
user at your webserver.

What do you mean by that? I'm using dyndns (z.dyndns.biz) and I don't have any websites from another user at my webserver.

Me too...I have DSL and no other guy's webpage on my server...Forget about CHIT... [addsig]

henning: was that a hidden request for webspace on our servers?

i won't give anybody (well, except some people ) access to my comp...

Posted by sacah on 19:50:00 04-18-2002
Will you give me access, I will make it a Leet haxor Windows box, I promise
(-:

I have dial up connection with 4 hours disconnects, plus only 1 phone line, I can not run a web server off my pc, plus who ever you were, If you run windows and want a good Apache/MySQL/PHP use phptriad it installs it all on your windows box.

Goto www.sf.net and search for phptriad, not sure what its project name is.

All of those lollipop!!! The best one to use is 0Catch. They give you 100 MB of space (you can pay $3.00 if you want 200 MB). Beat that! [addsig]
Posted by sacah on 17:32:00 08-09-2002
I prefer to pay a little for my hosting.
Posted by MoX on 00:31:00 08-10-2002
I prefer having my own server. Too bad that I don't have a static IP. Dyndns can't really satisfy me there... [addsig]
Posted by KaGez on 02:26:00 08-10-2002
Mox: tried no-ip? looks pretty good to me

If I see a good argument in paying for something, I do so. If there is no reason to pay (e.g. if others have the same for free), I won7t pay. Simple, isn't it?

If i could run my own server i would, i cant, noone else will for me, so i pay.

I'm firewalled, so I can't have my own server either ... and, I'd love to have one...

I use Geocities UK/Ireland. And use dot.tk for domain registration. True, Geocites script pop-ups are a little screwy with scripts, but atleast you can minimize them, unlike Tripods banners and pop-up.
Posted by sacah on 12:00:00 09-15-2002
Or you could pay a small fee, and have space, no ads, and all scripts, php, databases etc.

hehe, maybe this would be a great task for a contest:
"Create a PHP script which only outputs errors. The script which outputs most errors will win!"

Posted by Henning on 00:27:00 01-15-2003
just make this:
while($var
[addsig]
Posted by Henning on 02:06:00 01-17-2003
php wantn't start it [addsig]
Posted by KaGez on 23:57:00 01-17-2003
oh, and how it will!
But, I think that's useless anyways
