I, C_Rdd hearby do formally request that I be given access to The Crew's Lounge with all the rights and privelleges there attached.
Posted by cowsarenotevil on 07:32:00 08-31-2003
Who hasn't? I think the crew's lounge should be taken from the main page though, it's too tempting to try to hack into, and with someone skillful, it's bad.
Posted by dxprog on 07:57:00 08-31-2003
C_Rdd: We need a good reason to let you in first.

cowsarenotevil: I don't think that's possible (taking it off the main page). Besides, no one has hacked into it yet.

well, one disadvantage of the old phpBB: everybody is able to see all forums... well, we'll fix it in partyfish!

and, only admins have access to the Crew's lounge. If you wanna be a admin, that's a different story

Does it not say "and highly privelledged members."

When there was the giant anti-messageboard revolt on TPU, was I not the one here, who was promoting message-boards as well as Wikis, rather than taking the hardline wiki stance?
Posted by dxprog on 11:09:00 08-31-2003
kenikov was protesting against TPU too. He hasn't got any special priveleges. [addsig]

Thanks, I new most of that, but it's good to confirm. I'm just waiting for permission to post a message at the bottom of a page.

I don't wanna bother you guys, but if you get caught using portscanners on servers in japanese areas (including japan ofcourse ), you can be sued. Even if you are living outside japan. I don't think anybody will be watching you, but better be careful with those things on japanese server
Just a small advice

I didn't use a port scanner, I just telnetted to random ports. Port scanners are generally not good.

BTW, I bottomume this means I can put some form of unharmful message here without you eating me?

This is the same a portscanner does...It just do it fast...

C_Rdd, why do you want to be allowed in Crew's Lounge anyways?

I'm surprised nobody has asked.

Of course, but port scanners are illegal in many cases. So why risk it?

cowarenotevil: Don't go tinkering. We don't need FSF to find out about something like that and shut us down.

kenikov: I said he needed a good reason, and he hasn't given us one yet [addsig]
Posted by cowsarenotevil on 06:07:00 09-01-2003
What's FSF, and how can it shut you down?
Posted by PGuard on 06:34:00 09-01-2003
I believe that FSF are the ones that are hosting YPN. But I also believe that they have absolutely no reason to fear getting cracked!

Maybe you should crack KaGez or dxprog and sniff there passwords...

Bleh, why do that when you can have the whole server! besides, I'm not trying to actually hurt anything, it would be a good way to find vulnerabilities on the server. Also, I saw no mention of FSF on the whois pages for this site, so that's why I wondered.
Posted by dxprog on 07:49:00 09-01-2003
PGaurd is right, FSF (Free Software Foundation) hosts the site. But, PGaurd had better watch what he says, or he could be in for a ban. :\

Actually, you're hosted by the Free Software Initiative of Japan...

EDIT: Which isn't affiliated with the Free Software Foundation as far as I can tell, and is definately not on the same server.

Calm down...A little cracking between friends doesn't hurt anyone ...And it was just a suggestion, I dont even know your IP address.
(And please say Lemmih or PGuard)

The server is definitely bottomociated with the FSF itself, because Richard Stallman personally helped us to arrenge this hosting initiative on this server. This is one of the officiall FSF servers in Japan (www.m17n.org). If you don't believe me, ask the admins of the server

Also, remote access to the server is only possible through SSH, and that only with a SSH key. Usually those who will get access to the server will send the key to the amdins and ask them to put it on the server so the new admin will get access. But, if it was like this everybody could simply say "I'm the new admin of the YPN" and get access to the server. Therefore, the server admins need my permission to add SSH keys for YPN admins
So, still wanting to try to break into the server? Security always has the highest priority on that system BTW

have a nice day

I just thought it would be interresting to see what goes on in there, and that I had been around for a while. Anyway, if it is for the admins only, I'm not that fussed and I guess we shall leave it at that.

You must spend most of your time in the IRC channel, 13 posts isn't exactly remarkable (certainly nothing compared to kage's 3000+ , even I'm not that high yet ) [addsig]

He joined September 9, 2002. So, he's been a member for almost a year.

That is considered long, since he is not an admin or moderator.

He shows-up at #YPN just as much as #TPU too, last time I checked.
Posted by dxprog on 08:40:00 09-02-2003
Well, I'm not in the IRC very often (almost never) and I've only seen him post a handful of times, so I didn't think of him as being around a long time. I forget that it is that late in the year [addsig]

My apologies. You were, however, registered by the FSIJ. Also, m17n.org may be affiliated with the FSF, but it's Japanese and not on the FSF's official server (think Sega of Japan as opposed to Sega of Americs). And if you have the rights to your portion of the server, what people do to it should be up to you, so I won't try anything unless I get permission to do something (harmless) to the site. BTW, I think you may have overlooked the FTP server, unless it doesn't actually do anything.

I didn't even open telnet to exploit this forum bug... you might want to fix it

Posted by dxprog on 12:10:00 09-02-2003
Muahaha! This is fun BTW, you can ban this account now.

-cowsarenotevil, again

EDIT: I'm guessing the new engine won't have this flaw though. Too bad (or, more acurately, good)

EDIT: Hopefully the new forums won't replace a ssuming (space inserted to prevent "censoring" with "bottumuming" also .

C_Rdd may not be the most sensible member, but he is probably the most useful member YPN has right now.

Besides myself, cowsarenotevil and a few others, he is the only active member (considering Slicer was promoted).

C_Rdd probably spends more time on IRC than me as well, since I've stopped going on due to un idiot nommé Francois-Denis. C_Rdd programs a lot more than me too.

I think Rdd fits highly privileged member right now.
Posted by Neu[Mann] on 20:04:00 09-02-2003
I do not like to see my name used on this forum like that by you. I'm 'Neumann' on IRC and you should be use that nick and only that nick.

Beside, the only idiot it took to keep you from coming back on IRC is yourself. I do not want to take the credit of that for myself.

YPN members might find that message offensive but please note that I'm myself replying to a personnal attack. So if you want to ban me, fine but you'll have to ban kenikov too since he has done that before and will do it again.
Posted by C_Rdd on 21:40:00 09-02-2003
I thought I had made more posts than that. You may see my post count rise considerably now, as TPU is gone.
Posted by KaGez on 22:45:00 09-02-2003
OK, if you wanna keep the message board, stop scandisking with it. I am not responsible for those stu(beep) bugs, and they will 100%ly not appear in partyfish! These bigs are so stu(beep) that I do indeed think that the one who coded _that_ bull should stop programing web-stuff at all.
Anyways, I don't wanna care about thse stu(beep) phpBB bugs, so please stop playing with em. I know they exist and I don't want to spend some hours a day filing out false stu(beep) posts

Sorry, this was just too much.
This board is not intended to insult eachother. If you want to start a war or something like that, please choose some IM or do it by Mail.

Thank you,
KaGez

How about, no?

Why did you stick on programmers networks kenikov? You don't even care about computer science even less programming. You just seem to like to collect hatred from people that have some kind of focus in their life. YPNer will eventually see the light and realise your are just a annoying idiot.

Please go away, or you'll might as well get kicked out, like the places you went before, IRC or other web forums.
Posted by dxprog on 04:32:00 09-03-2003
Yes kenikov, I think you need to quit. I am warning you now, keep up that attitude and I will ban you. I think this whole thing has gone far enough.
Add a warning from me too, please
