Since the famous "What computers do you have?" forum has been locked this will be the one to take its place.
My current computer specs are:
Intel AN430TX motherboard
AMD K6 166Mhz (really a 200 but for heat reasons I have it at 166)
96MB SDRAM
10GB Western Digital Caviar HDD
Diamond Stealth64 Video 2001 vid card
Yamaha OPL3 integrated audio
52x ATAPI CD-ROM drive
Monitor capable of 640x480x32 max res (not for much longer)
Go crazy!

Well since some ppls on here are upgrade happy, such as myself , you need someplace to show off your fancy, unlike mine , computer stuff.

I should also get some wireless stuff to damage my brain a bit more. The CTR stuff isn't enough! I don't get a headache!

Wireless mice are nice. Problem is, that the two AAs in my optical Logitech have a lifetime of about one month...

I've got the Logitech wireless mouse/keyboard combo... It's great, until the batteries start dying... The mouse is _always_ on, whether the computer is or not... It's the dumbest design idea ever. They should really make it passive - does a normal mouse constantly send signals to the OS saying "I'm not moving... I'm not moving..."... Neither should a wireless mouse.

I'm staying wired, thank you very much.

I will do so too for now

Yeah, I considered switching back to wired hardware, too. My keyboard is wired, because the cable does not annoy me there. But even with the mouse, the wireless comfort can only hardly make up those battery issues.

I love cordless, and my cordless headphones can double as a battery recharger, and since i hardly ever use sound, i just pop backup batteries out of charger and into my mouse or keyboard and shes sweet.
I could never go back to corded, its so annyoing.

this depends on how big your desk is, and how you put things on your desk I suppose.... I for example don't have much except my PC on my desk, and I don't do much besides workin on the PC at my desk, so those wires don't bother me much.

same for me. I just think that wireless things are sort of smooth.

I've actually enjoyed the wireless keyboard more than the mouse. I can sit on my bed watching TV and screw around on my computer across the room... The batteries last longer on that, too. (not much, though)

I don't have to worry about cord length. The computer is on my desk and the mouse has a very long cord anyways, one thing MS did right.

yeah, the only stuff M$ makes, which is good, is mouses! I really love those M$ mouses I even have one....

Hardware seems to be the only thing MS does right. One of my PC mags says the same thing.

M4 cordless mice lollipop though, Logitech are far better in all areas, but very noticable in the cordless department.
Yes, I meant that M4.

I'm happy with my M$ mouse, even if I hate M$ itself. But this optical mouse works really great

My parents got a Logitech optical (corded) and I love. I "inherited" their old MS wheel mouse and I love it too. I fiddled with the insides and replaced a part with a pencil eraser and I haven't had to clean it since.

I'm sick of cleaning those damned balls of these mouses, so I'm using a optical mouse. Almost no maintainance you have to do, just whipe the lens every few months

Posted by dxprog on 10:41:00 08-22-2002
Just replace the extra roller with a pencil eraser and violla an unoptical mouse that never needs cleaning.

I needa do work for that, bah!

It's cheaper.

optical and non-optical actually don't make a big diff here anymore. I don't know if there even _is_ a dif... you'll get a optical wireless, with loading station for 5.000Yen (about $45US)

Yeah, I know. But when you're working off allowance and have bigger fish to fry anyways, it "is not logical".

Good news. I have my processer clocked back up to 200 again. All I needed was a little extra heat grease.

I finally have a new monitor. It's a Micron 500Gfx. Linux ought to be a little more useful now
