I was looking through the General YPN message board and noticed a topic about "bypassing" AOL parental controls. So I thought about it, and decided it would make an interesting task to try. After a little speculation, I found a solution. Ofcourse, because I don't want to people to feel that I'm advocate of or accomplice to kids wanting to look at pornography, and because I believe that parental controls were created to give parents a way to prevent their kids from looking at what might be against their beliefs, I have my doubts about mentioning this particular way to go about it.
The other side to this is that by doing it a little differently, one can can play games dependant on using direct connections in tcp/ip to accomplish internet play. The downside to this is ofcourse, I realize that there are many intelligent minds gracing ypn's presence daily, and that it would only take a little thought to accomplish the ability to indeed "bypass aol parental controls", so the question is, is it really worth mentioning?

Don't go there. Things like that aren't allowed on here (as you may have already noticed).

Sorry, hate to be the party pooper. But they are there for a purpose (even if you don't like it)

Of course, not everyone agrees that parental controls are justified. If you think that the American revolution was morally justified, or agree with any similar example, then the mere fact of the existence of a rule shouldn't be used to justify the correctness of following it.

lol if a lad wants too bad enough, he'll find out how to bypass it.

I can't even get to my website at my Grandma's house, due to aol of course. At my house we have RoadRunner, although this morning it was 1.78 kbps, strangely slow. The regular speed is in the 100's

If you're around 14-15 years old and you have parental control, your parents must be evil or just exaggerating.. A reasonable discussion should solve it in the latter case.

No. I'm nine, actually. But maybe a good talk will take care of my problems. In fact, I found the user info directory for AOL 8.0. At least I think I found it.

Thank heavens, no. Even when we were on AOL I didn't have that. My parents considered e mature enough to have a 16-17 setting at 13.

As far as I know the 16-17 settings allow you to use apps that require a direct connection, does this seem off topic? Well, one of the reasons I tried was because my younger brother couldn't get cheats downloaded to an action replay unit.(He was using a KO account.) Ofcourse, you could enter them manually.. but enterting a 45 line code can be very frustrating, or at least I'm told so.
But when any kid can create his own free aol account for the trial period, what's the point really? lol

LOL Yea that's true, but then again this was more with regard to bypassing them not deleting them altogether..
