i am wondering if there are any useful electronic sites out there that will teach you how to make the components from scratch. i want to try to make a computer in which all the components are made by me and it is totally put together by me

I dont think thats a good idea... it's allmost imposiple to create anything by hand. You can't just make a new CPU, hd or RAM. All computer components are very complex.

Maybe you should try to create a simpel calculator. It's kind of fun.

I appluade your ambitions, but it would be impossible for a human to create a componets such as a CPU, modern motherboard, ect from scratch. I think I did hear of making older type RAM [From using already made parts I think], but I'm not sure about it.

i just want to make something simple something like they did with the altair. i want to go into hardware (electrical) engineering and i would like to get a head start on it before college (4 years from now lol) i don't care if the computer is a piece of crap and barely works i just want to build something for the learning experience. maybe i should try to build a calculator. i don't care if the plans are for a micro computer from 1975. so any good links out there?

well, it's not impossible to make computers by hand... you just need a lot of time money and room. Just look at at that old old computer which took a whole room. Not as fast as todays computers, but it worked!
