Coding contests >> Break my encryption.
Posted by PGuard on 06:40:00 11-28-2002
Hey I have made a program, Connect.

It is a chat and filesharings prog, and I hope its secure.

U can see how its encrypt its data in the help.txt file. (download connect.zip)

If U can make a prog that sniff the data (or U can use a packet sniffer) and finds the key then ... heh What can I offer... I'll say Ur really good.
If U want to learn about sniffing and/or non-text decrypting this is a fair test.
I will also try and the source will be at: http://212.242.49.100/ypn/con_sniff.zip ... I will put it there soon.

"Connect" will run as non superuser and so will the sniffer prog. ( and no memscan for the key )

Good hunting.

I cant access the source.

The source of what?

Im not done with the test version of the sniffer! Check back later

And the source of "Connect" is in: C/C++ - Programs - Connect.

Or U can download it here: http://212.242.49.100/ypn/connect.zip

OK but please center ur mind on the task...My writing style have not a thing to do with the encryption of my prog. (post about breaking my encryption or dont post )

We give up! XOR encryption is unbreakable, everyone knows that.

Is that a joke? Remember last time I send U an encrypted file?? U gave up! U can do it with a text file but U gave up on a non-text file. I can see why one can decrypt a text file without any problems but I still cant believe that one can do it on a non-text file without using bruteforce... ("Connect" will _never_ send pure text...)
Try to decrypt this: http://212.242.49.100:/ypn/crypt.con It is just some text I crypted with Connect This is main.c from Connect... I encrypted it with a key of size 1.5 Kbytes. Now U have more info than U ever will get from sniffing. Plese send me the key asap.

Hey!

Im working on a new version of Connect. It have some new func and I have made a easy way to add new encryptions methods. If some of U want to showoff Ur skills as a crypter please provide the best encryption method U have.
U can still just download Connect.tgz ( its a link to the current version)
Im still waiting for the key to decrypt crypt.con... (heh heh I dont think U can)

Don't be fooled. If people don't want to try and break your encryption, it's because they can't be bothered doing so, and not because it's unbreakable.
Posted by PGuard on 17:39:00 12-03-2002
Heh I know its not unbreakable but so many ppl have said: "LOL U cant use XOR [...] Its a very weak encryption". Well if it is so weak then break it!
Just try to make a proc that prints out the chat msgs.
U can change connect so it run without any key and still can chat with other clients thats uses keys. (this should be plain simple)
Give it a try

New version!!!

Version 1.0.1 is new out:
http://212.242.49.100/ypn/connect.tgz (link to connect1-0-1.tgz)
http://212.242.49.100/ypn/connect.zip (link to connect1-0-1.zip)

Heh. If you really beleive XOR is secure, you should real a bit about cryptanalysis. Here's the smallest, simpliest, but yet semi-secure algorithm I know of:

I dont think that ist super secure but I think its so secure that ppl of my (and your) level may still have alot of problems when trying to decrypt.
I can see its a linary (or some thing like that) encryption but if U think that im just full of shit then please decrypt http://212.242.49.100/ypn/crypt.con !

Perhaps so, but people of our level aren't the ones cracking the encryption algorithms, now are they?
Posted by PGuard on 04:04:00 12-07-2002
Heh I really dont think that the CIA is decrypting my msgs to my friends.. Im not talking to B. Laden...Why should anyone even try if they are not doing it for fun! And I have made a TEA option. (comes in the next version) and working on some others.

Heh Check again...
My version is: 70983 bytes.
And its not a encryption program. It a chat & filesharings prog...with ability to encrypt its data.

I should hope they're not that lame.

<trolling>
u say im not a good cracker???!!!

Who? Me? (check the you's ... Do I look 30% smarter now?)
Nooo..
You _are_ good...but not good enough.
Heh If you think you can break it please try to connect to 212.242.49.100:6666 with connect. Im encrypting with NAS (NAS is homemade). (NAS=NonAmericanSecurity.. Heh its just 3 letter I randomly typed.)
And if you dont think there is any connect server try connecting at port 7655. Im not in the server room (its just some mashine I hacked) so you cant chat with me but maybe I will share some files. Use command: "/search testDownload.txt" and then: "/download testDownload.txt PGuard". Also check out "/view results"

If one of you guys break in to the server at port 6666 the use: "/download encrypt.txt PGuard". And write its content here or pop me at icq.
And read help.txt ... There is a script in the newest version 1.0.3... Run the script and it will ping my address and tell you is the server are running. Just run: ./connect script.con ... very simple.
Well that all for now.. going to setup the server. (remember all Connect is a client _and_ a server.)

Ooops...
Some minor problems with the router...
You cant connect to me for a while...
Hope I be online soon.

To all the crackers out there:
The server are now running.
212.242.49.100 port 7655 (Not encrypted)
212.242.49.100 port 6666 (Is encrypted)
(And you can chat with me.. piped the output to my pc)
Download testDownload.txt & encrypt.txt.

Perhaps, You guys can check an application I am working on, After I get my copyright, I want to see if anyone can crack my Encryption.

P.S. Even if the source to the Algorithm is Open, It's still hard to crack something. For example,
Message: _-u_2i&É-
Key: ?

I have a number in my head, can you guess what it is? Nope. Thats the key, A one char key, simple to decrypt the Message? Not if you don't have the key, Brute force might work, but In My Encryption, You would ether need to Borrow Noaa's Supercomputer (Jet) for a few Million years before you would find the right key, And! Who says I encrypted it once? Maby there is more then one key! Most Doors have more then one lock.
You guys need re-evaluate your methods

You say that your prog uses more than one key like its something new and not used in my prog. Why should I re-evaluate anything about my encryption methods?? Any encryption method that I ever seen can be easily rolled in to my program without overwriting any other methods my prog is using.
And with easy commands to change the rank of the keys and control of whith keys are used for what (a key can be used for one or more areas. like: chats, downloads, uploads, search) I think my prog is doing a good job.
Hell maybe I even make a clone of your method if I think its ok
