I installed Apache. I tried localhost// and it showed me a welcome page. Nice. Then I read about configuring it to show my website (which I have stored locally) and so I did. But still the same page showed up.
Twintop then tried to help me out and helped me configure the http-config file. Nice. But, still the same freakin' page! Even when the server is STOPPED, it's there! And it says the following among others:
As the whole Linux-Mandrake distribution, this Apache web server is compiled with Processor-Specific Optimizations to take advantage of the power of the new processor generation, giving it 5-30% more performance than any other Linux Web Server.
Sounds like some Mandrake specific stuff. So does this maybe mean I already have apache installed somewhere? It is very strange and it annoys me to death!

This may sound stupid (and it may be stupid)
but the problem is your browsers cache?
Have you tried to restart your browser?
E.g. Netscape can be configured so that it
does only compare the cached and the actual website once per session..
Just restart the browser or clean the browsers cache to try out.
Just my 0.02$
Good luck!

That's not impossible. But since I'm installing Debian as soon as possible and as Mandrake is wiped out, I can't check that now .
Thanks anyhoo
