My goal is to find a goal for this finding a goal thing, so I can put my goal, that is to find my goal.
Unless I found my goal, then my goal was to forget my goal, so I could rave about finding my goal which was to forgot my goal, meaning I did not reachmy goal, cause I remembered my goal was to forget my goal, unless that was not my goal then I successed in my now goal goal in forgettin my goal was to goal.

15 posts a day.. whew... that's a lot
phpbb calculates my posts/day to something around 2-3... but i post more lately... it's just the average.

lol
"What do you want to be later?"
"I want to become a phone bill."
lmao!! haaaahaaa.... ok, enough laughing
my average is 4.49 posts a day, and I'm the most active member in her. So, I think 13 or 14 posts a day is impossible unless posting some crap nobody's interested in

Well, I think Flikm means he's going to post 15 messages a day from now on and not by the total average.. it'd be quite a nice rate, however just as long as the topics are enough.. or else we'll have small useless posts all over .
Posted by MoX on 20:58:00 05-15-2002
I don't really see his intention...To become active he should not only have a certain number of posts every day. This way he raises his phpbb rank and his average daily posts. Remove this both features and the idea of posting 15 times per day becomes quite useless.
So, for the sake of a somewhat worth reading message board, do not post if you have no point or are not at least funny...

yeah, the name makes it a game like on slashdot - you have something called "karma" that increases when you write useful posts. the result is that a lot of people just copy&paste texts from sites "in case it gets slashdotted" and that sort of stuff

Oh, and he wouldn't be the first one

yeah, im going for 5-10. on other boards, 15 a day would be simple. not many active young programmers i guess.
Posted by KaGez on 21:53:00 05-16-2002
the active members in here are getting more and more, I can tell you
when I joined the YPN there were like 5 active members.... now we have quite many more

Something like that "Karma" would do this forum well. Problem is, who is going to distribute the points?

kagez: heh, indeed
mox: i don't want something like slashdots moderation system here... or not yet, at least. the trolls aren't too bad yet, and there aren't enough active members to really make such a system work.
but maybe there could be some way for people to just flag a post "useless", and people could choose to not display those articles. a post would have to be called "useless" by quite a few people to get that flag tho, of course.

The basic idea is very good. Let's consider if and how we can realize it.

Where is the active members list?
[addsig]
Posted by fsvara on 04:03:00 05-17-2002
there is none. just look at what members usually post new stuff and reply everyday, or every few days.
you could also look at the memberlist, order by number of posts... most of the first half page will be more or less active...
Posted by kpyro on 23:18:00 05-17-2002
What? How will it organize them by posts? And why does it say like that robost86 has 45 posts? And I have none?!
[addsig]
Posted by MoX on 15:20:00 05-21-2002
kpyro: You're in the wrong memberlist. Look at the the upper left of the forum page and click on 'memberlist'. In the table that will appear you have to click on 'posts' and it will be sorted by posts.
You have probably clicked on 'memberlist' on YPN's frontpage. The posts mentioned there are your tutorials and code-snippets and not the messageboard posts.

hmmm.. active members list... I think this is a good idea for Yowie!
[addsig]
Posted by fsvara on 01:57:00 05-22-2002
and how would it find out if a member is active? i mean, sometimes a member could be on holiday for over a month, making him quite inactive for that time... would that justify flagging him "inactive" automatically?
Posted by MoX on 02:07:00 05-22-2002
Hmm...is there a need for a special list of active members? I mean, just view the memberlist sorted by posts and there it is.

Posted by KaGez on 15:02:00 05-22-2002
yeah, true.... but there must be something better
But for now, I won't think about it

You could probobly count on a two hands and a foot how many people post regularly. I never thought I would be one of them.
