A lot of beginners start with these two. Visual Basic has become a very easy to learn language with great capabilities.

Talk about the low-level language assembly!

Talk about AI.

Web programming
Discuss everything about the technical, that is, programming part of webdesign here. There are tons of techniques that fit in here! Ask your questions about HTML, CGI, PERL, PHP, ColdFusion, Java and Javascript here! What is your favourite technique? But no flamewars, please!

Web Design
Of course, even a web programmer knowing CGI, PHP, HTML, Java, Javascript like himself, can have problems creating good websites. Why? Because design is something completely different! Discuss tricks, exchange tips and help each other here!

Linux
Linux is a great alternative to Windows (if not the alternative to Windows ;-)) A lot of serious programmers use Linux, and for good reasons. It has a stablility that is unmatched, and the fact that it is open-source adds a little more sweetener to the mix. Linux isn't widely supported, though, but it's a great OS anyways.

All about computers
Other operating systems, hardware, software, everything about computers that doesn't fit into the other forums.

Windows
Windows is the most widely used OS in the world. It's great for almost anything, from programming to gaming. While it in itself is a wonderful platform, it does have its problems (stability to name one). But, if you want to develop for the masses, Windows is your best bet :-)
