Wii Launch!

November 17, 2006

Tomorrow is the day... or rather the day before the day. Tomorrow at approximately 12PM CST I will hike my sad, sorry carcus up to Wal-Mart, that place we all know and love, to get in line for the Nintendo Wii. This would be a long, twelve hour wait but lucky for me I go to work at 7 in the evening at which point my spot in line will be lovingly takn by my brothers (one of which wishes he could wait the entire twelve hours :-P). I'll be sure to snap some pix on my camera phone and give you a complete Wii review on Sunday or Monday. Oh, it will rock so hard!

btw, sorry about the crappy picture in lieu of a comic today. That's just the way life sucks, ya know?

Wii-Ha!!

May 9, 2006

As I write this it is seven hours until Nintendo's E3 press conference and I tell you I'm currently wide awake riding a wave of excitement (which is bad because I have to work today :-P). If you've been paying attention to gaming news in the last few hours you'll know that Sony tried to pull a fast one and copy Nintendo's motion sensing stuff (a move I called a while back, sadly it wasn't on the podcast :-P). Also, you'll know that the cheapest you can get a PS3 for is $500 bucks, and that version doesn't even come with built-in wifi. I will say this only once: Sony is going to fester in their own turds this next generation.

But on to more current news. Next Monday we'll finally see the release of the first Mario Bros. game since Yoshi's Island (1995, I believe). From everything I've seen this game is going to be absolutely awesome and from the reviews it seems that it lives up to standards Nintendo set back in the 80s and 90s. I have every intention of picking up my copy Monday.

Well, that's about all for now. Oh, yeah, cashiering rocks ;-). I must try to get some sleep if I expect to be awake for the press conference. Night!

A Revolution is on our Doorstep

March 23, 2006

Today, with any luck, we'll get a whole mess of new info from Nintendo on the Revolution. Of course, I'll be at work :-P. But, the whole reason I post this (aside from the fact that I'm a Nintendo fan boy) is because of a little cartoon my bro found. Actually, that last part is very true. On a side note, the soundtrack is awesome!

This is sad, I tell you. I've got to go to work at 8am this morning and here it is almost 1:30am and I'm awake talking about how the Revolution will r0x0r. You can tell that I have virtually no life at all. I spent most of yesterday afternoon writing a little RSS feed generator to keep track of my ACC pattern stats. Albiet it was kind of fun, but a total waste of time.

Yesterday, I also tried out America's Army, a free game developed by, surprise, the Army. The basic training missions were okay (especially the shoot house), but after that things just died off (like learning how to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation :-P). It was informative, but things like that are best left to the classroom. The complete lack of any single player missions was what turned me off in the end. I suppose I shouldn't expect anything more coming from the Army, but games aren't supposed to be real life replicas of boot camp :-P. At least now I can tell these army recruiters who come to Wal-Mart "I played the game and I didn't like it."

Well, I really must try to get some sleep now. Just remember, nitro-glycerin is incredibly dangerous and unsafe to drink :-)
