Since there's not much to write about that's happening in my life at this current point in time I will instead rant on a cornucopia of things. Note - these rants are very, very biased.
MySpace profiles. We've given power to these people to change the design of their profiles. Bad idea. Why, you ask? Because it seems a good chunk of the MySpace population doesn't understand the basic fundamentals of good design. Readability is the first thing that comes to mind. Green text against some sort of fractal design background is enough to induce some sort of crack induced brain trip upon those who are to look upon it. I will say this: that horrible piece of shit you call a MySpace profile layout doesn't necessarily reflect upon you as a person. I say this because I've got friends and family on MySpace. In closing, though, you can't expect the users of a place where they themselves have... questionable design practices to be better.
Carts. Don't be a douche bag. Put the fracking carts in a damn cart corral. Never, EVER put your carts up on a curb or on the grass. I will kill you. Slowly.
Grammar. Has this completely gone out the window? Seriously, since the advent of instant messaging and e-mail everybody's grammar and spelling are simply atrocious. Their, there, and they're are one of the worst offenders. Nobody knows how to properly spell angel (many times transposing the "e" and the "l"). Nobody cares. And to think is the next generation of human being that we will have to hand the keys of the world off to when my generation gets old. It sends shivers up my spine.
Well, I think that covers most bases. If I haven't offended you please feel free to e-mail me and I'll do my best to correct said situation next time I rant. Peace out!
No offense to the state, just a little thing Dave Berry is always pointing out (you can't spell Florida without the "duh"). If I haven't mentioned the fact that Dave Berry is one of the funniest columnists alive, I will do so now and tell you to go out and get some of his books. The Guide to Guys and Money Secrets are my personal favorites. But, this all really has nothing to do with this blog post so I will move along.
I guess the first thing I want to say is that Guitar Hero II is pretty much the best guitar-based game ever created. I kind of sat on the edge about it for a while because the song list seemed kind of meh compared to it's predecessor, but I decided to give it a chance and GameFly'd it. I was unimpressed for a while and then I hit the boss song. Freebird. All 9 and a half glorious minutes of it. Needless to say I went out and just bought the game the next day and now I rock out on it all the time. Maybe I'll post a video sometime. Oh, and a sidenote, this whole Guitar Hero madness made Chris buy an electric guitar so maybe one of us'll be the next Van Halen or we can form a band and resurrect the glory days of the 80s. Maybe...
I'm back to my old self again and have created a new design for the site. With everybody going "Web 2.0" I figured I'd better jump on the bandwagon and stay current. However, in my defense, the original Tetra design used rounded tables before rounded tables were the thing to do, so I'm a trailblazer there. I'm going to wait to implement the new design until I've gotten a new backend written. Wordpress is nice and all, but all the spam (which you lucky souls never see) is really driving me insane. Besides, I can make a less bloated piece of software to suit my needs. When it comes to web stuff I usually trust my own work over that of others. Maybe I'm an egotistical jerk that way :-P.
Shifting to my public life, things at work ar fairly normal. However, I did drop the CSM charade and joined Robin Hood's Merry Men, or as everybody else knows us, cart pushers. You're probably thinking "Wow! Why did you take that kind of a pay cut just to push carts, a lowly job made for the slime of the Earth?". Firstly, I wasn't actually being paid CSM wages, so I lost a whole .40 an hour. Secondly, that .40 an hour has bought me some sanity and hapiness. The lot is a nice, quiet place to be. The carts don't complain about their credit card being denied, or that something rang up the wrong price, or.... you get the picture. I don't know about people in other towns, but Bartians seem to be a whiny bunch (I'll admit I can be whiny as well).
Well, that about wraps it up for this blog post. Tune in next Friday as maybe I'll make this a weekly thing. It would do me some good to get into some sort of schedule of doing things.
The last real missing piece of the redesign is now in place. Just take a look to your right and you'll see what I mean. To save having a really short post I suppose I can give a general update on what's going on.
Let's see... I'm still a cashier/cart pusher. I'm enjoying Halo's online play immensely. I'm almost to the floating continent on FFVI. I enjoy going to college with Elvis on the weekends, and I'm thinking of moving out. Yes, you read that correctly, I'm going to college with Elvis ;-).
Seriously, though, I am making plans for moving out of the house and into an apartment. A couple of hurdles I need to get over are lack of GED and car, but otherwise I think I'm in a finacially tenable position to pull it off. Jeff also wants to move out and board with me, which would be cool. I'm already dreaming of the awesome Smash Bros. game-a-thon parties I could host.... oh, yeah.
No laptop yet. I'd check to see how things were coming on Toshiba's website, but I don't have my service order number or anything (left it at the UPS store :-P) so I'll just have to be pleasently surprised when it gets here. Driving me nuts, though, because my bros' computer is fritzin' out so I'm having to resort to other "activities" to keep me entertained. Mainly drawing. Actually, I'd like to think that my artwork has evolved quite a bit since even the last comic I made (before the Paint Chronicles, that is).
Speaking of the comic, I've got a bunch of ideas lined up and ready to go. I've got the last part to the DB of Life about half colored, another one scanned and a couple others I've drawn over the last few days. Another thing I'm going to do when my laptop gets back is redesign the F5 part of the website. It's kind of bland looking now, and apparently script isn't working (that's supposed to take you to the Paint Chronicles).
I'm planning on going to see Pirates 2 in a couple weeks. Tried to watch the first one the other night, but our DVD is scratched or something so we only got about half way through. While I'm on the subject of motion picture entertainment, I've started watching Lost. Not too bad of a show, really. A little gorey, but intruiging. And finally, they released the teaser for the new Spider-man... I am not amused. Three (at least) bad guys, Harry included which burns me to no end, and it looks like they're going to toss MJ aside like a bag of moldy tangerines. Sam Raimi, ya screwed up!
Work's not going too bad. I got a raise a couple weeks ago, so I'm netting a nice sum of money every other week. I'm scheduled to push carts all next week, which I'm thankful for as I'll miss the pre-4th of July rush. I've also got three day weekends coming the next two weeks so life is good. Gives me plenty of time to do all I've talked about above ;-).
Speaking of money, next week on one of my days off I think I'm going to trot down to the bank and see about getting a loan so I can get my car. I can't even get a stupid credit card because I have no credit score, so we'll see how that goes.
Well, that should catch everything up for a while (it's been forever since I last blogged like that :-P). I may try to import all my old blog posts to WordPress when my laptop gets back, as well. It would seem fitting as I've now been filling you all in on the useless details of my life for over a year now. It's been one crazy, crazy year, too. House renovation, moving, job, and all of it forever immortalized on the Internet. Cheers!
Well, I got my wish today and pushed carts all day... in the boiling sun... and I boiled... like a lobster...and now I resemble one. Not so much on the cart pushing.
Keep your iTunes running this week as I think Chris and I will be putting out a new podcast :-).
